I’ve done this post the last couple of years, because I think it’s important to stress how high quality drug store beauty products can be. You have to remember that many brands like Oil of Olay are owned by powerhouses like P&G who have the resources to invest big time in research and development to pump out the most effective products. Some of these are repeats, and some are new – but these are the drugstore buys that I’m loving right now.
Neutrogena Deep Clean Face Wash ($5.49): I’ve been using this product for probably 10 years, and that’s because it washes off all of my makeup without leaving a film and without drying out my skin. Cheap and effective. Love.
Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate ($46): Ok so this is on the pricier end, and maybe you can’t purchase it at the drugstore, but I really wanted to share this product because it’s amazing and much more affordable than other high-end brands. It’s an oil, but it never causes breakouts and really helps moisturize my skin (reducing wrinkles and evening tone). It’s a miracle worker and worth the investment.
Herbal Essences Naked Dry Shampoo($6.29): I got this as a sample with a shampoo and loved it so much I bought the full sized product. It not only makes your not so clean hair smell clean and fresh, but it helps to boost volume. Did I mention your dirty hair will smell great?
Herbal Essences Body Envy Volumizing Mousse($3.99): Fresh out of the shower I put this stuff in my roots and distribute it through wet hair to add a little body and smell like a tropical rainforest. Good smelling hair + body = winning combo.
It’s a 10 Miracle Leave-In Product($18): Although slightly more expensive than some other products, this stuff is great for helping with frizz and protecting your hair before you torture it with your hair dryer. Don’t let the crappy packaging fool you – this stuff actually delivers.
Palmer’s Formula Skin Therapy Oil($9.99): Yes, this is an oil. Yes, it says it’s to use for scars, stretch marks and damaged skin. What it doesn’t say is that this makes one of the best moisturizers for all skin types, all over your body. I bathe in this stuff. Not only does it leave you smelling like coconuts on a tropical island, but it makes your skin shiny and smooth – especially great for legs in the summer.
GrandeLASH MD
($45.99): This is my new favorite product ever. You have to order it online, but this serum works like Latisse (without the high price tag and necessary prescription) to help your lashes grow. I’ve been using it for a couple of months now and there is a very noticeable difference in the length and fullness of my lashes. You can check out the video below to get a better look at them, but I assure you, I never had great lashes in the past. This product has really worked and is worth every cent.
What drugstore products do you swear by?
Did you know that castor oil is one of the best things for your eyelashes? It is fantastic for both eyelash growth and as an eye area moisturizer. I’ve read that it is truly fantastic for dark circles under the eyes (can’t vouch for that personally; I’ve never had dark eye circles). I’ll never use anything else as an eye area moisturizer.
For face/body/hair moisture, I gave up all lotions for extra virgin coconut oil years ago, and again, I’ll never go back to anything else. Coconut oil is naturally anti-fungal and antibiotic, so you can use it on cuts and bites. There are a myriad of great uses for coconut oil, and I’ll not repeat them here, but it is one of the greatest beauty products imaginable. I like the Trader Joe’s coconut oil the best, and the price can’t be beat ($5.99 for 16 oz).
You may be working for Trader Joe’s, but I still appreciate the info
I LOVE It’s A 10! Even though it’s a little more expensive, Target sometimes has good deals on it and the stuff lasts forever!
I’m glad I’m not the only one pushing this stuff! Thanks for the info!
